Min eventyrskatt
After Norway's newly won independence in the early 1800s, a wave of nationalism swept the country, and painters and writers alike sought to define the nation's identity. Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Moe ventured through Norway collecting folktales and legends, of which have since become a cornerstore in Norwegian culture. This book tells ten of the most well-known ones.
The book, with its 170-some pages, is richly illustrated, with some form of illustration on every page- be it full-bleed spreads or spots.
Behind every porridge bowl, table cloth, and satchel, there's comprehensive historical research and attention to detail. As much as the illustrations serve as window into a fantasy land of trolls and flying ships, they also offer a look into the way people lived 200-300 years ago.
